The Most Amazing Quarantine Birthday I Did Not Expect
A few weeks ago, I turned 30. Yes, it hasn’t sunk in yet that I am not in my 20s anymore! However, I did want to make my #Dirty30 special until Covid-19 happened. There was a stay at home order starting on March and events such as birthdays, weddings, holidays and many more were mostly celebrated virtually, postponed or cancelled.
Zoom with London Friends
First, I celebrated with some of my friends from London. We ended up playing a “Drink If” virtual game through Zoom. We got a little tipsy and it was a lot of fun!
If you want to try to play as well, you can go to my previous article “15 Free ‘Drink If’ Quarantine Game Cards to Play on Zoom with Friends.” Check it out and have some fun with your friends virtually!
Surprise Violin Serenade
On my actual birthday, hiking trails opened again to the public. Hence, I asked my friends on a group text if they wanted go hiking with our masks on. I thought that it would just be nice to finally hang out outside with some human beings. None of them seemed to like my idea and my friend suggested to just hang out at my house, which I didn’t mind.
It turns out that they were going to surprise me with a private show/serenade from the violinist Daniel Morris. I was blindfolded at home as they brought me next to my garage. At first, I thought my friends were going to do a dance performance for me. LOL.
The song ‘My Heart Will Go On’ played in the background and they took off my blindfold. OMG, I recognized this guy from Instagram! Just a couple days ago, I liked one of his Instagram posts and even commented some heart emojis. For this quarantine, it was so nice to see videos of him serenading mothers on Mother’s Day by playing his violin right outside of their homes. Randomly, my best friend saw that I liked his post and suggested to have him play at our place. He played for 30 minutes. We all danced and sang along!
Some of my other besties, who were extra concerned about social distancing, drove by with a ‘Happy Birthday’ sign. They handed me a small birthday cake and a Michelada (my favorite drink). They may not have stayed but they took the time to drive by just to hand this to me and greet me.
In the end, I am just thankful that I have long lasting friends. It could’ve been a simple birthday, which would have still been amazing because I was surrounded by my favorite people.
I am blessed and happy to have built such amazing relationships through time and I know that we will all forever have each other’s back.
